String Stability of a Linear Formation Flight Control Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
String stability analysis of an autonomous formation flight system was performed using linear and nonlinear simulations. String stability is a measure of how position errors propagate from one vehicle to another in a cascaded system. In the formation flight system considered here, each ith aircraft uses information from itself and the preceding ((i-1)th) aircraft to track a commanded relative position. A possible solution for meeting performance requirements with such a system is to allow string instability. This paper explores two results of string instability and outlines analysis techniques for string unstable systems. The three analysis techniques presented here are: linear, nonlinear formation performance, and ride quality. The linear technique was developed from a worst-case scenario and could be applied to the design of a string unstable controller. The nonlinear formation performance and ride quality analysis techniques both use nonlinear formation simulation. Three of the four formation-controller gain-sets analyzed in this paper were limited more by ride quality than by performance. Formations of up to seven aircraft in a cascaded formation could be used in the presence of light gusts with this string unstable system. 1 American Institute of Aero *Aerospace Engineer †Aerospace Engineer ‡Aerospace Engineer §Aerospace Engineer Copyright 2002 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc. A new virtual leader-following consensus protocol to internal and string stability analysis of longitudinal platoon of vehicles with generic network topology under communication and parasitic delays
In this paper, a new virtual leader following consensus protocol is introduced to perform the internal and string stability analysis of longitudinal platoon of vehicles under generic network topology. In all previous studies on multi-agent systems with generic network topology, the control parameters are strictly dependent on eigenvalues of network matrices (adjacency or Laplacian). Since some ...
متن کاملOptimal nonlinear control of flight faults in manned aircrafts in the presence of fault and failure of control actuato
Control actuators' faults are among the major reasons to lose aircraft control while flights. The plane dynamics is severely dependent upon faults and errors in flight control systems and if the reformed control order is not issued by the fault tolerant controller there would be unpleasant outcomes such as inconsistency and the reduction of system performance and some dreadful aerial accide...
متن کاملString Stability Analysis of Homogeneous Linear Unidirectionally Connected Systems with nonzero Initial Conditions
This paper investigates string stability issues in homogeneous strings of strictly proper feedback control systems. We consider initial condition problems with unidirectional nearest neighbour communications, using only linear systems with two integrators in the loop. We define string stability as a type of stability that is uniform with respect to the string length. We show conditions under wh...
متن کاملStability and numerical solution of time variant linear systems with delay in both the state and control
In this paper, stability for uncertain time variant linear systems with time delay is studied. A new sufficient condition for delay-dependent systems is given in matrix inequality form which depends on the range of delay. Then, we introduce a new direct computational method to solve delay systems. This method consists of reducing the delay problem to a set of algebraic equations by first expand...
